Asteroid - Clay Floor Lamp

The first of the totems. Everything in the series that followed grew out of this form.

Roughly eighty hours of throwing, drying, firing and assembly over a mild steel armature. The lamp is built from 17 individual segments threaded along a central pole, and they can be stacked in any order — the arrangement is the customer's to decide.

Finished in chalk rather than painted, so the interest stays in the silhouette and in the clay surface itself.
